Paver fading is a serious industry issue.

Since 1996, we have conducted very extensive 10+ year paver exposure tests. This data reveals very interesting and significant pigment/color loss.
|
The key issue is that colored concrete fades!
The pigment is not the problem – the system is the problem with pigment particle removal and pigment/cement paste removal exposing aggregate. This is explained by unhydrated cement clinker and calcium hydroxide contents that can reach 25 %. |

|
The solution is to minimize these effects in a 3 prong system.
1. A unique Delta admixture, Liquid Z, used at a very high dosage level – 100 + oz/100 wt.
2. A unique white pozzolan which completes the cement reaction.
3. A unique dry side, reactive sealer for a factory sealed finish.
The combination of these 3 materials will add cost to your batch. However, when the addition
of yearly color loss long term is taken into account (wasted cement/pigment $), this added cost narrows.
Our data base of over 100,000 concrete shades can target several specific shades such as adding a small amount of Blue to your Black Oxide for your BlueStone and New York shades. |
